1. Using the transmission method, resonance method and bridge method, dielectric constants and losses are measured on paraffin-wax mixtures of twelve specimens of coal ranging from C Rough 65 to 92%.<BR>2. Dielectric constants of coals are estimated for these coals by means of Böttcher's equation<BR>3. The relation between dielectric constant and oxygen content is discussed and it is shown that polar groups contribute to dielectric constant.<BR>4. From the comparison with optical dielectric constant, the motion of dipoles in coals in the electric field can be discussed. Rough estimates of dipole moments are also given.
