D-amino acid oxidase (EC 1.4.3.3. D-amino acid ; O<SUB>2</SUB> oxidoreductase) was examined with rat tissues. Tissue homogenates were centrifuged at 800 g. Supernatants were used as enzyme sources. Oxygen polarography was applied to this experiment, and oxygen consumption was determined at 38°C<BR>The result was given as follows :<BR>The order of the enzyme activity in rat tissues was as follows : kidney > skin > liver > brain > stomach > spleen > heart > intestine > muscle.<BR>The author found that the skin had very high activity of this enzyme.
