The purpose of this study is to investigate which fatty acids are normally present in human bile and blood and to see how these might vary in billiary disease and other pathalogical .conditions.<BR>Total fatty acids of human gallbladder bile and blood were analyzed qualitatively by gas-chromatography. The three major fatty acids in human bile are palmitic, oleic and linoleic acid, representing around 80 % of total fatty acids. There was some alteration in the pattern of the fatty acids of patients with gallstone disease and patients without gallstone disease.<BR>Especially linoleic acid decrease remarkably in the former disease compared with those of the latter.
