1) As the result of investigation for 186 cases of thyroid disease, 93 cases (50%) of them became the object for surgical operation. Among them, 13 cases were malignat thyroid which was 7% of total patients examined. And 21 cases were treated as malignant before the operation, among which 8 cases were benign thyroid. Histologically, there were 7 cases of papillomatosis, 5 of folliculary and 1 of disgerminoma., from which 8 cases (61.5%) were survivor for five years.<BR>2) As the result of thyroid test using B.M.R., 131I-uptake, 131I-RSU and cholesterol examination, BMR and 131I-uptake were found to be less correlative and unreliable. However, since 131I-RSU ref ected its function clearer, the more exact foundation for diagnosis would be obtainable by refering these three testing methods.<BR>3) Thyroid sintigrams estimated good for the differential diagnosis for the size, change and metastasis of thyroid, distinguishing neck tumor and thyroid disease, cold nodule or hot nodule of thyroid. 22 cases out of 73 presented cold nodule by thyroid scintigrams, of which 8 cases were diagnosed benign for malignancy. Therefore, it is difficult to diagnose cancer of thyroid only by sintigrams.<BR>4) When comparing surgical operation made under hypothermia and those made under normothermia upon understanding the thyroid, the variation of 131I-RSU showed that the degree, under hypothermia, kept going up for three hours after the operation and then restored gradually to its basis. The same tendency was also noticed in the animal examination. Under the normothermia, the variation of 131I-RSU was scarcely noticed, having no relation with operation.
