• The result of some observations on the oestrous cycle and gestation period of the Japanese serow, <I>Capricornis cyispus crispus</I> (TEMMINCK, 1845), in the Japanese Serow Center on Gozaisho-dake, Komono-cho, Mie-Gun, Mie Prefecture, was described.<BR>The heat and mating were observed from September to March of the following year in one case, and from October to December in two cases.<BR>It was shown that the oestrous cycle of the Japanese serow was about 20 to 21 days. The mating was generally repeated in one heat (about three days) between both the sexes. The gestation period seemed to be from 211 to 213 days (average 212 days) judging from the observations.
