Some short reports on the ecology of the Japanese serow, <I>Capricornis crispus crispus</I> (TEMMINCK) have been described by several authors. The writer intends to report on the habits of the serow from the northern part of the Japan Alps, especially on its food habit.<BR>(1) From 1964 to 1965 six individuals of the serow killed by some accidents, were obtained from Mt. Sirouma and Takaseiri Forest.<BR>(2) Twenty species of the arbors and the herbs as stomach contents were recorded from these six serows (Table 1) .<BR>(3) According to the knowledge of the vertical distribution of these plants on the Northern Japan Alps in the season from April to June, the plants eaten by the serow are those found on the subalpine zone (1, 000-2, 000m above sea level) in the mountain (Table 3) .
