Myobiid mites of the genus Binuncus RADFORD, 1954, are specific parasites of the family Pteropidae. The occurrence of some mites of this genus on Pteropus bats distributed in Japan had been expected. The present authors examined Pteropus pselaphon LAYARD and Pteropus dasymallus yaeyamae KURODA deposited in the collection of National Science Museum (Hat. Hist.), Tokyo, and found a Binuncus mite on the both of them. This mite was identified as Binuncus (Binuncus) magnus (RADFORO, 1954), a parasite of Pteropus medius TEMMINCK from India. It was proved that B. (B.) magnus (RADROD) also occurred on Pteropus giganteus BRÜNNICH that had been introduced into Japan and kept alive for exhibition.
