• A clinic for children with speech and hearing disorders was opend in 1960 at Shinshu University Hospital. In 1980, Horiuchi and Imai reported the history and data obtained during the first 18 years (1960-1977). In the present paper, the clinical records for the subsequent 10 years (1978-1987) are reviewed.The number of patients had slightly decreased from the previous report (1960-1977), and showed the same characteristic sex differences. Subjects under 3 years of age accounted for 47.5% of all the patients. There was a tendency of increase for the age group of under 6 months of age. Diagnoses were made in more detail in this report. The tested children with no hearing impairment accounted for 18.7% of the patients. COR, ABR and play audiometry were applied more frequently during this period.
