The combined use of cisplatin and peplomycin has become popular in recent years, and in fact it has achieved favorable results in the treatment of patients with head and neck cancers. However, there have been only a few basic studies on the optimal combinations of chemotherapeutics, although we think it necessary to know more about the mode of action of individual anticancer drugs for ideal combination.In our first paper we reported the results of our three-dimensional of the mode of action of cisplatin. We used PI-FITC labelled BrdU and a double staining methodin our present study of the mode of action of peplomycin in addition to the method described in our first paper, and we also used flow cytometry with fluorescein diacetate. In the investigation of cellular viability.After the administration, of peplomycin (5 g/ml), accumulation in an early G2M stage tended to last for 7 days, but partial cellular rotation was conceivably resumed from around day 5. The findings of the viability study showed that accumulation in the G2M stage was probably bactericidal from around day 3, instead of remainingstatic in the cells.
