• Since it is difficult for many patients with severe neurological disorders to sit, it would be advantageous for such patients to have neuro-otological examinations in the supine position.We devised a new visual stimulator which can hang from the ceiling. With this device, oculomotor functions such as smooth pursuit, saccade and optokinetic nystagmus can be evaluated in both the horizontal and vertical directions with the patient lying supine.Patients with central nervous system disorders or acute peripheral vestibular disorders can be evaluated easily with this device.
