Clinical study of pollinosis in patients with bronchial symptoms.

We studied mainly the respiratory function in 11 patients (3 males and 8 females) with pollinosis and bronchial symptoms. We also used the methacholine inhalation test to detect hypersensitivity of the lower airway. FEV 1.0% in pollinosis patients with bronchial symptoms was low, and the reaction threshold values for methacholine were 195μg in 3 cases, 1, 563μg in 2 cases, 12, 500μg in 3 cases and 25, 000μg in 3 cases. These results indicate that the hypersensitivity of the lower airway is greatly increased in patients with pollinosis and bronchial symptoms.
