Endolaryngeal Application of Corticoid

This study includes the clinical results obtained in 64 patients who were dealt with endolaryngeal application of corticoid (Predonine). Authers conclude that this treatment is to be of value to chronic nonspecific laryngeal inflammation especially to vocal nodule, edematous catarrhal laryngitis and postoperative care of endolaryngeal operation.Endolaryngeal application of corticoid is of definit benefit to 62.5% of patients with chronic nonspecific laryngeal inflammation. It is observed that voice rest and elimination of other causal agents during this treatment is of great value to obtain good result in this medication. In effective cases, improvement of laryngeal findings was marked within twenty times of application. For this reason, successive application of corticoid is thought to be meaningless when no clinical evidence of effect is recognized till twenty times of application. It is interesting that there was marked difference of response between male cases and female cases. The effect of this treatment was more remarkable in female cases, while poor result was noticed in male cases older than forty years old. We cnosider these differences of effect suggest some relationship between endocrine function and laryngeal disease.
