Author experiences two cases of patients which complained of trouble in swallowing. And it was proved in these cases by X-ray exanination and oesophagoscopy, that they possesed certainly so-called Zenker's Diverticulum, though they were both in early stadium, and in direct under them e. i. at the hight of the cricoid caltilage the spasmus of the oesophagus was founed. Patients were very nervous, and vagotonia in fairly high degree was also proved from the clinical symptoms and the pharmacological examinations.
After the atropintreatment the spasmus of the oesophagus disappeared, the diverticulum decreased also gradually, until at.last it could not be found any more, whereas swallowing annoyance were not subjectivly complained.
From these clinical findings it could be supplemented to the formation of Zenker's Diverticulum, that in these cases the hypertonia of vegetative nervous system, such as -vagotonia had caused the spasmus in the upper portion of oesophagus. And this, as the primary cause connected with the pharyngoloesophagical internal pressur in swallowing, may promote the projection of upper oesophagical wall, which is congenital weakly developed as reported by Laimer.
