A perceptual evaluation was conducted, comparing a specialist and general public opinions regarding High Definition, FM Printing material. Subjective evaluation results intended for High Definition Printing (85, 175, 300 and 700 1pi; lines per inch), FM Printing (40, 30, 20 and 12.5μm) is used to analyze Principal Components and to identify a comprehensive evaluation structure. Evaluation items for recognition levels used "vividness", "sharpness", and "contrast". Also, evaluation items for image levels such as "softness", "nearness to reality", "image quality"have been set up and their respective characteristics have been examinded as well. As the results of using screen rulings for printing material production, a forcast of dot size was possible. Furthermore, 300, 700 1pi had no discernable effect on the evaluation of image levels.
