1. The abnormally high rate of urinary excretion of L-ascorbic acid in alloxan-diabetic rats was found to be partially the result of a lowered rate of destruction of L-ascorbic acid in the liver caused by insulin deficiency.2. The synthesis of L-ascorbic acid from D-glucuronolactone and the destruction of L-ascorbic acid were found to decrease in the liver of tumor-bearing rats.
