Since 1958, 60 patients with osteoarthritis of the hip were treated surgically in our clinic. The age of patients varied from 11 years old to 75 years old (average: 31 years old). Most of them suffered from secondary osteoarthritis due to CDH. This is to report the follow-up study of 46 patients who were able to be assessed directly (30 patients) or by mail (16 patients). There are 7 males (7 hips) and 39 females (43 hips) and average length of follow-up time is 5 years and 8 months.11 cases (85%) out of 15 patients on which osteotomy had been done improved excellently. There is no difference in the clinical results between over and under 5 years after operation.Shelf operation and shelf operation with osteotomy were performed in several cases and all these cases showed satisfactory results.Arthrodesis and muscle release operation were better to remove pain but some-cases were unsatisfactory in ADL.
