It has been sugested that the most serious complication of endoprosthesis is acetabula a erosion and migration. Recently, R. P. Giliberty converted a unipolar endoprosthesis to a bipolar prosthesis with a low friction bearing. To date 11 patients with fresh femoral neck fracture have undergone this bipolar endoprosthesis. The follow up term was on the average 8.4 months. Average age of the patients was 66 years.Clinically Giliberty bipolar endoprosthesis was more functional than Austin-Moore type. But the implanted cup was a steep angle about 70 degrees. Therefore, we suspected that significant wear in the socket, luxation and polyethylene sensitivity would happen in the future. It is important to determine whether Giliberty bipolar endoprosthesis should be used an initial procedure.
