• From March 1987 to June 1989, we treated 12 patients with proximal humeral fracture by utilizing the Zero-position traction. There were 11 women and a man in the follow-up study.8 patients had excellent or good results and 2 patients had poor results. Another 2 patients were treated by operation.This method has several merits as below:(1) There is little functional loss of the shoulder after the fusion;(2) Necrosis of the humeral head is rare; and(3) Reduction is achieved conservatively, but in a few cases (particularly in 3 parts of 4 parts fractures), open reduction was needed.
