A Case of the Pubic Tuberculosis.

Tuberculosis of the pubis is extremely rare. We present the case of pubic tuberculosis, onset of which was 17 years ago.The patient was a 66-year-old man suffering aching pain in the inguinal region with swelling of mons pubis.Radiographically, varing degree of sclerosis, rarefaction and destruction in the pubis of bilateral sides of the symphysis were observed.Magnetic resonance images disclosed the abscess-like lesion above the pubis.On the diagnosis of probable pubic tuberculosis, we performed following operation.Through a suprapubic incision, necrotic inflammatory material was found in the rectus abdominis, the left testic sac, and in the right and left pubic bone. The affected areas were thoroughly curetted until bleeding bone was exposed. The cement beads mixed with dibekacin and kanamycin were implanted into the bone defect space.The wound was closed over drainage tube. Histologically, necrotic mass, epithe lioid cell and Langhans type giant cells were observed in his speciman, but tuburcle bacilli were not isolated. After operation, the patient was administered streptomycin (2g/wk), iso-nicotinic-acid-hydrazin (400mg/day), rifampicin (450mg/day), ethambutol (750mg/day).6 months later from the operation, the patient was asymptomatic and labolatory data improved.
