Primary Bone Tumor Associated with General Skeletal Growth Disturbance.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the correlation between primary bone tumors and general skeletal growth disturbances.94 patients with primary malignant bone tumor treated in our department from 1965, and they were reviewed for any association with general skeletal growth disturbances using the patient's protocols and skeletal X-ray films.Of these, two patients with Osteosarcoma and one with Ewing's sarcoma had complicated skeletal growth disturbances such as Down's syndrome, Marfan's syndrome and dwarfism.All of the primary bone trmors occurred in the second decade.Abnormality of genes controlling general skeletal growth might play a role in the development of primary malignant bone tumors.Therefore it is important to carry out further genetic studies to investigate the association between primary bone tumors and general skeletal growth disturbances.
