This case report describes a patient with sciatica resulting from Rt S1 nerve root compression by a gas-containing cyst. MRI and CT showed gas in the spinal canal with compression of the Rt S1 nerve root.At surgery, the nerve root was seen to be elevated by a gas-containing mass. After aspiration and removal of the cyst the patient's radicular pain and hypesthesia resolved.
