Asian Institute of Technology(AIT) is a unique international post-graduate school and research institute, which was founded in 1959 and is supported by voluntary donor countries. It has already sent out more than six thousand graduates, who have been contributing much to the development of Asian countries. Japan has been assisting AIT in the form of faculty secondment, donation of buildings, scholarships and subsidizing operating budget etc, since AIT moved to the present campus located about 50Km north of Bangkok in 1973. AIT is composed of four schools: Scool of Civil Engineering, School of Environment, Resourses and Development, and School of Management, supplemented by outreach research and education organs such as Continuing Education Center, Asian Disaster Preparedness Center etc, . Now that the 21st century is said to witness that of Asian and Pacific Regions, the mossion of AIT is becoming more and more important as a technological center of excellence. Japan, which is the most advanced industrial country in Asia, is expected for the role of leader, both in finacial and spiritual aspects.
