• The mechanical properties and the effect of heat treatment are checked by the bent angle of a pin when rupture. The authors have a doubt for the use of bent angle. The elastic limit and the bending stiffness influence more on the endurance of a pin.<BR>The effect of tempering is measured by JIS bending tester and also by a small capacity precision bending tester, and the resulte thus obtained are analyzed. After the analysis it is found that the bent angle when rupture is not a good indication of the effect of heat treatment, but that the magnitude of the load shown by the small capacity bending tester when rupture or yielding of a pin occurs is a better indication for it.
