The torsional vibration characteristics of a bottom roller with running fit joints and the one with conventional fixed joints have been tested.
Under the standard revolution of 170 RPM of the front bottom roller the amplitude of torsional vibration of a bottom roller with running fit joints is about one half of that of a conventional one. When the RPM of the bottom roller increases, the amplitude of vibration inceases rapidly on a conventional roller. On the other hand, it increases very slightly on the newly developed roller.
A bottom roller with running fit joints makes it possible to manufacture high quality yarns because of the less variation of the surface velocity of a bottom roller. The mounting of the new roller on a spinning frame is much easier, and it does not need to correct the setiing.
