• The hysteresis and the non-linear vibration characteristics of textile materials are studied both experimentally and theoretically. The results obtained are : <BR>1. It is shown that the stress which has no relation with the rate of strain can be represented as the stress which depends on the rate of strain.<BR>2. A model and a non-linear differential equation which seem to represent the stress-strain mechanism and the non-linear vibration characteristicso f textile materials are suggested.<BR>3. When the amplitude of strain is large, it seems to be necessary to consider the effects of non-linear vibration characteristics on the heat generative properties of the tire cords.
