Family and generation relationships in South Korea are becoming extremely various. This paper clarifies potential structure types behind various generation-related phenomena. The focus is on the analysis of mutual relevance among the geographic proximity, the exchange of support and the norms of family support as three significant sub-dimensions in the generation relationships between the middle-aged generations and their parents. The Latent Class Analysis was used to analyze the potential structures of the generation relationships. Moreover, the generation relationships were analyzed from the viewpoints of both the middle-aged and their parents. On the one hand, the generation relationships from the middle-aged generations' perspectives are statistically described as follows : (1) a strong support relation on a reciprocal basis (18%), (2) a strong support relation from one-side (19.7%), (3) a situation-related support relation (12.8%), (4) a traditional support relation (12.8%), and (5) a weak support relations (31.5%). On the other hand, the generation relationships from parents' side represent the following three divisions : the traditional (49.7%), the reciprocal (19.8%) and the weak (30.5%) relation types.
