Up to now, the research on female labor is in line with the view of “SHUFUKA” (i.e.phenomenon of more and more women choosing to be housewives) in the baby boomer, but since then, there are two dichotomy of the positions towards their participation in society : it has or has not advanced. However, in the analysis approach on the view of “SHUFUKA” and “socialparticipation” from the transition of a M-shaped curve, there is a limit to disregard the individual life course.
Based on the policy subject of combining work and family, this paper re-examined the issues of the woman as a housewife and their social advancement from the analysis of the individual occupation career and the life event. The findings confirmed with the previous research of“SHUFUKA” in the period of the post-baby boomers. However, in relation to post-baby boomers or the later period, the ratio of the full-time labor force participation was not increased in a delivery time, which cannot support the view of their social advancement. The rising of the M-shaped curve is due to the trend to marry at a later stage in life and delay the delivering. This is not the hint of the increase of women's social participation but the proof of trade-offs of an occupation career and a family life.
