The structure of fiber tufts of a sliver consisting of equal length fibers has been analyzed and some uses have been found from the results.<BR>1) The evaluation of fiber distribution in the sliver can be attained by using the value of V (WF - WB / WF + WB), where WF and WB are weights of frontand back of half a tuft and V is the Variance.<BR>2) The begree of fiber hooking in the sliver is well presented by E (WF - WB/ WF + W) B, where E is the mean.<BR>3) The short fiber content R obtained from the staple diagram is related to RI or RII derived from the fiber tuft method by the following equations as R=12RI / 3 + 4RI and R = 3 RIII . A good correlation between the theoretical and the observed values is found.
