Various problems concerning the process of comb spinning were discussed. The followings were summaries of the results obtained. (1) By making use of instantaneous photography, was observed the yarn delivered from the comb spinning test apparatus developed in our laboratory. (2) The relation between number of revolutions of the spinning head and scattering of fibres was investigated. From this test results it was proved that there existed a critical number of revolutions beyond which the efficiency decreased rapidely. (3) The draft limit of the above apparatus was studied by feeding rovings of 2's, 114; in at a constant velocity of 264 mm/min into the spinning head. When number of twist was smaller than 3 t.p.i., yarn breakage took place for any count of yarn. Under this condition the draft was below 10. (4) These results suggest how to improve the apparatus. To use a power transmission mechanism which keeps the ratio between numbers of revolution of two shafts constant and to make the spinning head smaller, these two are the most promising methods of improvement.
