In two separate experiments the acquisition of a multistimulus wavelength discrimination was studied. Such discrimination training produced the highest response rates to stimuli peripheral to the extinguished stimulus (S-). Subsequent reinforcement in the presence of the S-produced higher rates to stimuli contiguous to the S-. The results are discussed as providing a novel line of support for Blough's (1975) model of operant generalization and discrimination.
