Experiment I examined the difference limen (<I>DL</I>) for the direction of apparent rotation in depth of the moving target, in which two targets moving sinusoidally, in the fronto-parallel plane with phase difference were dichoptically presented to the eyes either fixating a stationary point or tracking the target. The results indicated that the discriminability to the change in depth for the moving target was reduced during tracking. Experiment II examined the possibility whether the discriminability of retinal disparity might be reduced during pursuit movement without changes of convergence. The results of Experiment II rejected this possibility. The implications of the results of the two experiments are discussed in the context of cues for discriminating the change in depth of the moving target.
