With the ultimate purpose to find species-specific antigens of mycobacteria, particularly of M. tuberculosis and of M. bovis, a preliminary experiment was carried out to analyse proteins contained in Sauton culture filtrate. Our question to this problem was raised in such a way, “Are there any proteins different in serological specificity ? And, if any, what part is responsible for species-specificity ?”
