Studying on the influence of Vitamin K3 (2-Methyl-1.4-naphthoquinone) on tubercle bacilli in vitro and in vivo, the authors obtained the following results.<BR>1) In Kirchiner's fluid media, Mycobacterium tuberculosis typus humanus and typus gallinaceus are not only strictly prohibited their growth, but also killed thoroughly by Vitamin K3 in the dilution of 2X10-4 and the former is also checked fairly in the dilution of 10-5 but Myc. the. typus bovinus is killed iu 10-4 and strongly suppressed in 2 x 10-4.<BR>2) On glycerine agar slants, containing Vitamin K3 in the dilution of 2X10-7, typus humanus and typus gallinaceus are both remarkably accerated their growth.<BR>3) The inhibitory and promoting influences, above mentioned, on tubercle bacilli by Vitamin K3 are not able to be obviously observed on egg media such as Oka-Katakura's.<BR>4) Subcutaneous injections of Vitamin K, daily 1.5-2.5mg during about 4 months, reveal some therapeutical effects against the experimental tuberculosis of guinea pigs.
