In an Inertial Confinement Fusion (ICF) reactor with liquid lithium curtain, energetic charged particles and fast neutrons from a microexplosion give the impact and the pulsive load to the liquid lithium layer and drive the shock waves. To study the phenomena and the related problems of the structural mechanics, simulation experiments using liquid Hg irradiated by electron beam were carried out. Measurements and analysis of the shock wave are described in this article.
