The negative resitance due to the Ramsauer effect was found by S. Ohara and by R. Forman independently. Thoretical considerations given by these authors have been based on different aspects. The former attributes the cause of the negative resistance to the density variation of electrons due to back scattering of electrons by gas atoms, while the latter ascribes it to the variation of drift velocities of electrons with the applied electric field. In this paper mechanisms of conduction of electrons are discussed throughly, and it is concluded that Ohara's aspect is essential to the appearance of negative resistance and the variation of drift velocities will not give rise to it.
