M/V KISHU-MARU (GT 33, 170ton, DWT. 54, 197ton) built at MITSUBISHI KOBE SHIPYARD & ENGINE WORKS, is an ore-carrier for MITSUI-OCK LINE. And she has been sea-going on since May 23, 1966, until now, from NORFOLK U.S.A. to WAKAYAMA JAPAN.<BR>For her machine dep't, a developed economizer and a steam turbo generator are applied, taking place for her original plan with conventional system of two (2) diesel generating set. Because some kind of news were prevailed that the similar plant on oil tankers succeed economically.<BR>But in development for such kind of plant, it was sure that either any maker or any shipbuilder paid much hardships, and we did the same too. KISHU-MARU was born in such surroundings, as the first ore-carrier with the turbo-generating plant in our company, being attracted by attention of many people.<BR>And she has had now the plant, everything of which is well for its abundance in capacity and reliability after her sailing, and she gave satisfaction and delight fullness, not only to the owner but also to us, the shipbuilder and the maker.<BR>Here, we will to introduce the outlines of the plant and the following-up report for its actual performance at sea-going, about for a year after completion.
