The shear rate dependence of mechanical data on various raw rubbers was studied with a multi-speed Mooney viscometer over a range of shear rates of 3 × 10<SUP>-2</SUP>1.5 × 10<SUP>1</SUP> sec<SUP>-1</SUP>. The temperature range examined was 35°C120 °C.<BR>Eqs. (1) (3) in the text seem to be valid for all data obtained irrespective of the rate of shear.<BR>Among those six constants involved in Eqs. (1) (3), the values of ML<SUB>0</SUB>, XL, YL and AI<SUB>∞</SUB> were found to increase monotonically with the rate of shear whereas the rest decrease monotonicully.<BR>In the Appendix, it was shown that one minute was not long enough to attain the thermal equilibrium throughout the system and a preheat period of ten minutes would be recommendable for practical purposes.
