The alkaline limiting pH of growth and the final pH of culture media of the L. R. bacterium were examined as compared with those of the enterococcus group and the other lactic acid bacteria. The limiting pH and the final pH of the L. R. bacterium were 10.15 and 6.5, respectively. They lied on extremely alkaline side as compared with these of the other lactic acid bacteria. So these data may be used as the characteristics in classification of the L. R. bacterium.
