In this paper it has been verified that the glucuronic acid residue which constitutes the hemi-cellulose molecule is in β-glycosidic linkage with xylose residue, and the hydroxyl groups situated in C2 Ca and C1 are free from combination, accordingly, glucuronic acid residue forms a termi-nal group. And, from the facts obtained from our foregoing studies on the composition and constitution of hemicellulose, the inference has been drawn that its constitution is expressed by the formula (III), which indicates that the hemicellulose consists of a long chain xylopyranose residues linked through the positions 1 and 4 with xyloglucuronic acid residues attached as side chain at every intervals of 8 xylose residues.
