Experiments were performed whether any correlation exists between the relative catalase activity and germination or maturation of cereal seeds. (1) There is a considerable differnce in the catalase activity of each region of cereal grains. The catalase activity of embryo shows high values as compared with endosperm. (2) The catalase activity of various organs of the cereal grain increases with germination, and it reaches a maximum after three days from their germination, and then it decreases gradually. (3) It seems that the catalase activity had no relation with the maturation of cereal seeds.
