When the sulfate in the sulphite waste liquor was titrated by the conductometric titration with BaCl2, as Q. P. PENISTON et al. (Anal. Chem., 19, 332 ('47)) have applied in sulfite waste liquor pretreated by their own method, it was observed that the sensitivity of the titration was often lowered owing to the sedimentation of BaSO4-precipitate on the cell (plutnum-black). This trouble was overcome by using the high frequency titrimetry instead of the conductometric titration. As it is shown in Fig. 1, the circuit of the high frequency apparatus, which was devised and used, consisted of two Hartley type oscillators. The tank circuit of one of these two was loarded by the titration cell, and the other was used for a voltage compensator. The differences of the plate voltages of both oscillators were read with the progress of the titration. The frequency of 3Mc/sec or 20Mc/sec, and the test tube .type cell or pipette type (shown in Fig. 2) were used. 20Mc/sec and the pipette type cell were used for the comparatively con-centrated liquor (original×12.5), but the lower frequency (3Mc/sec) and the test tube type tell were able to be used only for the very dilute liquors (more dilute than original×ca. 400). However, the titration with the lower frequency has more sensitivity, and the operation with the test tube type cell is more simpler.
