The effects of partial hepatectomy or carbontetrachloride hepatic injury on 15N incorporation into plasma albumin were studied in the rat, 3 hours after intraperitoneal injection of 15N-glycine. Under 40% hepatectomy, the 15N incorporation rate did not change. But over 40% hepatectomy, it decreased in proportion to the remained liver cell mass.Carbontetrachloride was injected twice a week for 8 weeks. The lowest 15N incorporation rate was seen at 2 weeks. It reached the highest level at 4 weeks and decreased gradually thereafter. These results were well in accordance with histological changes and with the alterations of DNA and RNA contents and RNA/DNA ratio of the liver.
