Vx2 carcinoma was transplanted into the pancreatic duct of rabbit, and pancreatic cancerwas produced. Transplanted tumor cells in the pancreatic duct infiltrated into the parenchymaof the pancreas, and grew there. Ligation of the pancreatic duct facilitated infiltration. Two mechanisms were supposed, i) Tumor cells get out into the parenchyma ofthe pancreas through the degenerated and destructed portion of the end of the pancreaticductules. ii) Tumor cells take root on the wall of the pancreatic duct, destructed it, and infiltrateinto the parenchyma of the pancreas.Tumor cells, infiltrated into the parenchyma, showed discontinuous intrapancreatic infiltrationthrough intrapancreatic blood and lymph vessels. So, pancreatic duct, blood andlymph vessels are the route of intrapancreatic infiltration of pancreatic tumor. When radical operation is performed for malignant tumor of the pancreas, discontinuousintrapancreatic infiltration of the tumor can not be neglected, because tumor cells are oftenfound in the intrapancreatic blood and lymph vessels distant from the chief tumor.
