<I>In vivo</I> NMR is a rapidly developing method to analyze the metabolism in living systems. Biochemical information obtained from the analysis of NMR spectra is described, then the advantages and limitations of the method are discussed. Among the wide range of application of <I>in vivo</I> NMR selected examples are shown. Topics are spectral editing, utilization of stable isotopes and magnetization transfer, localized spectroscopy, and newly available nuclei.
