• The Mandarin Chinese of the male speaker was analysed with the"Sonagraph KAY 622A"machine and the characteristics of those sonagrams were discussed in detail.<BR>From the types of modulation, the Chinese phonetic symbols were classified into six categories: stop sounds, fricative sounds, combination of stop and fricative sounds, vowels, diphthougs and vowel-like sounds.
