This was a case, a forty year old woman, of melanocarcinoma which had grown out of the left lower turbinate. Attacking the side of the lower nasal canal and invading the maxillary anturm, it reached the orbit and the tympanum and finally destroyed the hard palate.
The extracted tumor was colored blackish brown, somewhat uneven and crumbly, weighing 12.8 gram.
This is an unusual case in the respect that it is accompanied by congenital stricture of choanae. No similar case has yet been reported in the literature as far as available to the author.
It is also noticed with interest that both Caruncula lacrimalis and Conjuctiva have nevus, as it is conceivable that there may possibly be some correlation between the presence of the congenital stricture of choanae as well as the nevus and the development of the tumor.
