Fine powder of metallic silver was mixed with fritt of lead-borate glass and sintered in a mass as Composite material. The thermal expansivities of these composite materials were measured for the purpose of testing the additivity-relationship between expansivity and mixing ratio of silver. The curve (volume-ratio of silver versus expansivity) did not change linearly with varying volume-ratio of silver, but the curve had two diseontineous points; a point at about 50% and another at about 75%.The author tried to explain this result with the packing theory of spheres. Another similar experiment was carried out with composed of glass particles and Portland cement.
