In the previous investigations on the determination of nitrogen by the strong phosphoric acid-iodic acid decomposition method, satisfactory results were obtained for analyses of ammonium salts, nitrates, amines, nitro and oxime compounds and some nitrogen-containing ring compounds. In the present paper the method has been extended for the determination of nitrogen in calcium cyanamide. The original method has been modified, because calcium cyanamide gives acetylene as an impurity when it is decomposed. For the determination of nitrogen in calcium cyanamide the Kjeldahl method is generally employed, but a long time is consumed for the decomposition of samples. By the proposed new method samples can be analyzed within twenty five minutes. Analytical results obtained by the method have coincided with those obtained by the Kjeldahl method.
