For the trial construction of a Littrow type infrared spectrometer, the radius of curvature of slit image must be calculated.<BR>Author could not find out the papers on this problem except the Kaysers.<BR>In this paper the form of slit image and its radius of curvature were decided, and the relation between the length of slit and the radius of curvature was discussed.<BR>Radius of curvature is written in the following expression.<BR>ρ=-<I>n</I> (<I>f</I>+Z<SUB>0</SUB>) / (<I>n</I><SUP>2</SUP>-1) sinφ·cosi<SUB>2</SUB>cosi<SUB>4</SUB>cosr<SUB>1</SUB>cosr<SUB>3</SUB>/cosr<SUB>1</SUB>cosi<SUB>2</SUB>+cosi<SUB>3</SUB>cosr<SUB>4</SUB><BR>where n is refractive index of prism material at the wave length λ (μ): φ, prism angle;f, focal length of the collimating mirror ; Z, a factor which represents the off-axis of the mirror ; i, r, angles of incidence and reflection.
