The sampling condition in differential thermal analysis (D. T. A.) was studied referring to the thermobalance (T. B.) data on water of crystallization.<BR>Several experiments attempted on CuSO<SUB>4</SUB>·5H<SUB>2</SUB>O gave useful results and led to a conclusion that only approximate 10 mg specimen was sufficient provided it was inserted in a sample cell in form of sandwich-type with inert material. The method was then applied on the analysis of CaHPO<SUB>4</SUB>·2H<SUB>2</SUB>O which was more sensitive for packing state and a satisfactory result was obtained.<BR>Contrary, a well-defined correlation was obtained between D. T. A. and T. B. data affected by aqueous vapour evaporating from the specimen itself, when the cells for D. T. A. and for T. B. coincided in their shape and size.
